Such a wonderful news at the end of this year: I have won the contest “SIAE – Classici di Oggi”, so I have to write a piece for trumpet and orchestra that will be premiered by Orchestra della Toscana in Florence, by November 2020.
I am truly happy and honored that the jury of the IV Concorso Nazionale di Composizione “Francesco Agnello” and his president, Ennio Morricone,
has decided unanimously to give the First Prize to my new piece for string orchestra La via isoscele della sera.
It will be played several times in 2019 by Solisti Aquilani. I am looking forward to listen to it.

"La problematica esistenziale legata a distorte dinamiche familiari caratterizza anche Funeral Play, parossistica messa in scena di una storia vera, avvenuta in Cina nel 2013: il desiderio di non perdere la festa del proprio funerale aveva spinto infatti la ventitreenne Zeng Jia all’assurda decisione di organizzare la propria cerimonia funebre e di prendervi contemporaneamente parte. Nel libretto di Sara Cavosi, però, le motivazioni della protagonista Aika, interpretata dall’abile e smaliziata Kurumi Yanagi, risiedono in un lutto non superato suscitato dalla perdita della madre e dal desiderio di attirare le attenzioni di un padre anaffettivo, impersonato dal basso Xiao Shengtao. Il monumento funebre troneggia al centro della scena, circondato da un sipario bianco su cui vengono proiettate scritte pubblicitarie di imprese funerarie specializzate in cerimonie di commiato. Aika invita i propri follower al suo funerale e la bara si trasforma in uno spazio neutro che grazie alle luci può assumere anche le sembianze di un iPhone dallo schermo luminoso. La partitura di Caterina Di Cecca staglia fissità ghiacciate e rievoca l’annichilente assenza che caratterizza la morte. La messa in scena della morte, pur essendo una finzione, genera però verità sorprendenti e drammatiche. Se da una parte infatti ricongiunge Aika al padre, dall’altra origina morte autentica perché la ragazza, ossessionata dal documentare con un selfie la propria fine, rimane chiusa dentro la bara. La lapide non si solleva più e il funeral planner, una volta incassato il denaro, la lascia dentro senza riaprire la bara per salvarla. Anche il cellulare si scarica e il desiderio di immortalare un momento irripetibile come quello del (finto) trapasso, si tramuta grottescamente in morte autentica. Questo istante tragico rappresenta l’unico momento di verità inoppugnabile nella nostra esistenza, la sola esperienza su cui all’uomo non è dato scherzare e che è vietato documentare. Un silenzio truce ingoia l’ansia spasmodica di pronunciare misteri insondabili: scacco matto alla cultura del Grande Fratello che tutto vorrebbe condividere e banalmente appiattire."

During the IMCNM course of Lviv, I have finished to write the first part of my new piano trio, Dédalo y Sensación, that has been performed by Ensemble Nostri Temporis. Thanks to this piece, I won two contests after the concert at the end of course and so I have received two commissions for string orchestra, one for the Lviv Virtuosos String Orchestra and the other for the Collegium Music Chamber Orchestra.
